Alterations For Beginners

Want to learn how to alter garments? This is the class for you

If you always find yourself needing to alter your garments and you've been thinking about learning how to do it yourself, this is the perfect class to get you started.

In this private class, we recommend coming in with a bag of clothes that need to be altered. We'll go through each garment one-by-one with you, grading each one from easiest to hardest. You'll decide with your teacher which garment to start altering. Please note, we are unable to work with denim or leather as these materials require industrial sewing machines.

Your private teacher will discuss your needs and goals with you and guide you through each techniques in order to achieve your desired result.

To get the most out of this alterations class, we recommend that you have a basic understanding of how to operate a sewing machine. Our Sewing For Beginners group class is great for learning how to thread the machine and sew straight lines, the perfect foundation class before you start your alteration classes.

If this is your first alterations class, we'd recommend bringing simple garments to alter such as hemming pants, tops, taking tops/dresses in at the waist etc.

<b>Please note, customers generally get 1-2 garments finished in a three hour session, it entirely depends on your current sewing level and the complexity of the garments</b>

Pricing

• 1x 3hr Session $249 ($83 per hour)
For a one-off casual class, enough time to alter 1-2 simple garments.

• 4x 3hr Sessions, 12 hrs total, $896 ($74.66 per hour, saving of $100)
Best for altering between 2-6 simple garments, or a couple of complex garments.

• 7x 3hr Sessions, 21 hrs total $1500 ($71.42 per hour, saving of $240)
Best for altering complex garments and learn multiple alteration techniques.

• 12x 3hr Sessions, 36 hrs total $2376 ($66 per hour, saving of $612)
Best for individuals who are serious about learning alterations and would like to cover multiple techniques.

With our packages, should you find that after a few sessions you would like to learn something other than alterations, such as making clothes from patterns, or drafting your own patterns, these sessions are flexible and the lesson type can be changed to suit your needs as all of our private sewing classed have the same rates.
